CRIMINAL JUSTICE RESEARCH

 Current and past research includes: 

  • Analyzing Homicide Patterns and Investigative Approaches in Oakland in 1997. This report was prepared for the Homicide Division at the Oakland Police Department and completed in September 1998. It was featured at several presentations to community groups and in stories in the San Francisco Examiner, Oakland Tribune, and local TV media.

  • Conducting Field Studies of the Oakland Canine Unit and the Vice Unit's Clean-Up of Prostitution in Oakland.  These studies used an anthropological approach to study the activities of the canine and prostitution units.

  • Working as an evaluation researcher and project director for the Contra Costa Criminal Justice Agency in Concord, California. This work involved evaluating probation, police, crime prevention, and victims' assistance projects.
